Our Organic Black Gram Dal (কালো ডাল), also known as urad dal or biulir dal, is harvested from organically managed farms and is one of the most protein-rich and nutritionally dense legumes cultivated in South Asia. With protein content approaching 26g per 100g and a rich supply of iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and B vitamins, black gram is particularly important in plant-based diets and is traditionally consumed to build strength and stamina. It is the primary ingredient in Bangladeshi biuli'r dal preparation, as well as an essential component in South Indian idli and dosa fermentation. The high phosphorus and calcium content make it particularly beneficial for bone health, while the excellent iron content addresses iron-deficiency anemia, especially important for women and adolescents. Black gram requires soaking for several hours before cooking to improve digestibility and reduce anti-nutritional factors.
